The Franklin Institute For Snail Mail
The old post office building in Washington D.C. reminds me more of a fancy palace or church from Europe than a place for sorting mail. Originally built in 1899 it was one of the first government buildings in D.C. to have its own electric power plant and it is the third tallest building in [...]
Midnight At The Jefferson Memorial
One of the coolest things about Washington D.C. is that the memorials are open 24 hours a day. This is especially nice when you are there on business and can’t cut away from work until late. Anyway, it was close to midnight when I took this photograph. It was great. We passed a couple [...]
Dogfight At The Smithsonian
Ok… so maybe not a dogfight, seeing as none of these planes have any weaponry.
I took this photo at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. They have quite a collection that spans from early canvas and timber airplanes to the space shuttle. The museum is actually a giant aircraft hanger [...]
The Washington Monument
A great thing about these giant memorials is that they never close, so you can visit at any time of day. However, as I mentioned before, it is probably not such a good idea to walk around with valuable camera gear at 10pm in the nation’s capital. In fact, while I was taking this [...]
The World War II Memorial
There is so much to see and do in Washington D.C. I was disappointed I only had a few hours to look around. However, due to it’s abundance of memorials and monuments you can make the most of your time by visiting the National Mall. This is the World War II Memorial, it sits [...]
View from the National Mall
I went to Washington D.C on a business trip last December. Unfortunately I was only able to get away and do some sightseeing for a few hours one evening out of the 10 days that I was there. Looking back on it, walking around at 10pm by yourself on the National Mall with expensive [...]
Good old honest Abe
The Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. has got to be one of the most inspiring memorials I have ever been to. I got goose bumps standing beside the statue reading the Gettysburg Address. If you have never been I highly recommend it.
Stay tuned for more,
